Big Game James


James Worthy was drafted in 1982 draft out of North Carolina and was selected to the Los Angeles Lakers as the first pick in the draft. In his rookie season he averaged 13.4 point a game and was named to the 1982-83 all rookie first team. In his career he won 3 NBA championships and earned the NBA championship MVP in 1988. He was a NBA 7 time all star and was named to the all NBA 3rd team 2 times. He averaged 17.6 points a game, 5.1 rebounds a game, and 1.1 steals a game. Altogether he had 16,320 points, 4,708 rebounds, and 1,041 steals out of his whole career. He was voted one of the top 50 players of all time in 1996. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2003. His jersey number 42 was retired along side 8 other laker players. He ranks 6th all time in points as a laker.
