#5 Jerry West

Jerry West was selected to the Lakers in 1960 as the 2nd pick in the draft. "The Logo", in reference to his silhouette was incorporated into the NBA logo. Jerry West is one of the greatest scorers ever and he holds the record for the highest points per game in a playoff series with 46.3. In his career he was in the NBA finals 9 times but only winning one in 1972. Jerry is the only NBA player to lose in the NBA finals but still earn the NBA finals MVP. Jerry was a 14 time NBA all star and received the all star MVP in 1972. He was a 12 time all NBA selection and a 5 time all defensive selection. Jerry was the scoring champion in 1970 and the assists leader in 1972. Jerry was inducted into the NBA 35th and 50th anniversary team. His jersey number 44 was retired by the Lakers on November 19, 1983. Out of his career he averaged 27.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 6.7 apg and altogether he had 25,192 points, 5,366 rebounds, and 6,238 assists. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979.
